Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba said a new government would be formed after holding local elections.
Addressing a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union in Chitwan on Friday, Deuba said that the present government would not topple before the elections, which he supposed would be held within March.Saying that the Constitution amendment bill would be endorsed only after passing election-related bills, Deuba argued that the local polls dates were also not announced for the same reason.
The NC President said that all elections at local, provincial and federal levels were compulsory for implementation of the Constitution.
Otherwise, it would push the democratic system into a crisis, he warned.Meanwhile, Deuba reiterated that the Constitution amendment proposal was forwarded considering Madhesi people’s sentiments.Deuba also mentioned that the recent expansion of the Cabinet was according to a previous agreement between his party and CPN Maoist Centre.
