n order to graduate with a D

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC GRADING SYSTEM
When  students finish the  8th grade (middle school), a certificate is  awarded upon taking National Exams (Pruebas Nacionales). Students should present another certificate, similar to that one, awarded at the end of 12th grade saying “Certificado de Suficiencia en Educacion Media” (or Certificación de Pruebas Nacionales 4to. Media).

There are no national certificates awarded in the 10th grade. If the student completed High School, they need to request that document in the appropriate government offices here in DR.

Curriculum is designed to enable the students to fulfill the requirements for two diplomas, the US high school diploma and the National Baccalaureate diploma of the Dominican Republic.

In order to graduate with a USA HIGH SCHOOL diploma, the student needs to earn a minimum of 27 Carnegie credits in grades 9 – 12, each 130 hours (implies a full-year course, receiving one credit). Compulsory courses include English, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health, Physical Education, Computer Technology and Dominican Culture. Six additional credits are of electives.
