Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha has decided to hold public demonstration to put pressure on the government for constitution amendment.
A two-day meeting of the Morcha, completed on Saturday, decided to hold demonstrations in headquarters of all Tarai districts on February 5 saying the ruling parties were reluctant to implement the three-point deal reached with it. The meeting also decided to stand against the report submitted by the Local Level Restructuring Commission to the government.
“We are trying to warn the government with the demonstrations,” said Rastriya Madhes Sadhbhawana Party’s General Secretary Keshav Jha. “We will announce further strict street protests if government continues to ignore our demands,” he added.
The three-point deal was struck between the Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center) and Madhesi Morcha when Pushpa Kamal Dahal replaced KP Sharma Oli as PM. The deal states to amend constitution, provide martyr’s status to those who died during Tarai protests and bear expenses of those injured and vote Dahal in PM’s election.
